Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Aging

International Context

ELSI-Brazil is part of an international network of large longitudinal aging studies. These studies, generically called the Health and Retirement (HRS) family of studies, investigate the social and health conditions, well-being, and economic conditions of older adults. Although these studies are independent, given the demands and particularities of each country, they seek to adopt a common methodology to allow for international comparisons. Samples are designed to be nationally representative of older adults (aged 45 or 50 and older). More information on these studies can be found by accessing their homepages.
